The manual entry and matching of OEM part numbers to an internal Material Master is a daunting task, which leads to gaps of parts information in the CMMS.\u00a0 You won\u2019t know what parts you use, where you use them, and how many of each part you\u2019ll need. Many asset-intensive businesses encounter the following problems when trying to create BOMs:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><b>Finding Parts Information is hard and sometimes impossible<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s often a heavy reliance on parts descriptions, which often are vague and incomplete. \u00a0This makes parts identification difficult through the 2 traditional methods:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finding parts from Work Order history<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> limits your scope of identifiable parts to those which have specifically failed in the past.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Manually referencing the OEM Parts catalog<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is laborious and does not represent supersessions or changes to the asset over time.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><b>Limited scope of understanding for parts<\/b><\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parts are often used in multiple locations;
